This past week, I was tasked with creating a fake teacher website as part of an educational technology class. This was the first time I attempted to create a website, so there were certainly obstacles for me to defeat. The first new skill I acquired was designing an aesthetic layout that focused the viewer's attention on what I wanted to make prominent. The second new skill I acquired was linking a Google Calendar to a website. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and was very satisfied with my final result. I found it exciting to be given the creative freedom to design a website in whichever way I wished. It was also a great experience for me as an aspiring private practice owner since I will need to design a website for my company. To view my website, click here.
Additionally, this academic semester I have used Diigo. While I do think this website could be considered outdated, I have grown to enjoy using it. It has been a great tool for my classmates and I to share resources with one another. I would definitely consider using Diigo for future group projects of assignments that require sharing materials. Additionally, as a future private practice owner I imagine that I could create a group on Diigo for my fellow practicing psychologists and I to share new and improved research with the practice employees.
As technology continues to evolve, teachers need to continue their professional development to stay up to date with trends. Not only are teachers partly responsible for introducing students to technology at a young age, they also need to be able to each their students how to go about using technology safely and effectively. I have found a blog by Richard Byrne called Free Technology for Teachers where he shares web-based resources that teachers can use to enhance learning experiences. Byrne shares ideas for activities as well as ideas for how to implement the use of technology.
Hi Rebekka! I really enjoyed reading your blog and especially enjoyed looking over your website. If you look over the C.R.A.P. Principles of a website it looks like you followed each and every one. Your teacher website is very appealing to the eye.
ReplyDeleteHi Rebekka, I enjoyed seeing your website it was very creative and easy to follow! The academic resources you provided were also good too, I may look into using them as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Rebekka, I love all the colors you used, especially since the website is for 2nd graders. I also thought the pictures were a nice addition. Everything is very well organized, and is easy to read because of the separation of different ideas with headers, bolding, and bullet points. Overall great job!
