Hi! My name is Rebekka Friborg and I am a current senior at Florida State University. I am completing two degrees, the first is in Psychology with a minor in Entrepreneurship and the second is in Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Education. Upon graduating, I plan on pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with the end goal of owning a trauma-specific private practice. During my time at FSU, I have also immersed myself in Realizing Everyone's Need for Emotional Wellness (RENEW), which is a student-led mental health advocacy and peer-education program sponsored by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). I am currently serving my second year as the Director of Programming for RENEW. Apart from my passion for advocating for mental health, I enjoy going on hikes, reading, hanging out with friends, and binge-watching new shows.
Prior to this class, I have used various forms of technology in an educational setting. I use my MacBook and my iPad daily to complete assignments and to study relevant materials. More specifically, I use Word, PowerPoint, and Excel on a regular basis. I am often tasked with creating worksheets, making presentations, and keeping spreadsheets up-to-date and organized so I have gotten comfortable with working in those programs. Throughout my years at FSU, I have also used many online platforms such as Canvas, FlipGrid, Canva, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc. to complete assignments successfully.
As I reflected on my personal learning network (PLN), I realized that I have many learning resources I regularly use to support my learning needs and goals. I particularly use YouTube, LinkedIn, GroupMe, networking events, and mental health workshops as part of my PLN on a regular basis. YouTube is a great tool for me to obtain guidance from people who are currently working as Clinical Psychologists in private practices. I have watched many YouTube videos from creators who give advice about Doctoral programs and share their experience in the field of psychology. LinkedIn and GroupMe are the platforms I use to stay connected with people who have similar interests to me. Networking events and mental health workshops allow me to expand my knowledge and also meet new people with similar interests.
