Teacher pages on a school website can be a great and efficient way to deliver important information and resources to parents and students. However, not all teachers have pages on their school website. Based on my observations, elementary school teachers are most likely to have a teacher page, which could be attributed to the heightened need to communicate with parents of children at the elementary age. As I reviewed various teacher pages, I noted that they often included a brief greeting before including links to pages such as the class calendar, educational resources, and photos. They appeared quite minimal and did not include any information that could be considered a breach of privacy, due to how publicly accessible the information is. You can find a picture of one of the teacher websites I viewed below and a link to access it here

As a future educator, I envision myself having a teacher page or class website, as well as a shared Google Drive for students and parents to have easy access to class assignments, worksheets, homework, and resources. I would use my teacher page or class website to keep an up-to-date class/school calendar for parents to have access to at all times. Additionally, I would make a weekly update on the material we will be working on in the upcoming week so parents can stay involved in their child's learning if they choose to do so. The Google Drive would be used to share any documents my students have been given in class and any supplemental documents for them to look over if necessary.

As my group and I completed Assignment 2 this past week, I learned about the abilities of Canvas. I enjoyed using the platform and found it to be simple to navigate and work with. I liked that we were able to seamlessly create various pages that linked to and from our home page, as well as how we were all able to create additional pages. The only thing I disliked about the platform was that there was no auto-save integrated so it was important to save any changes you made before closing the browser or they would be erased. Overall, I really enjoyed using Canvas for this assignment and would definitely consider using it with my future K-12 students. I believe it is a great educational tool that can be used to simultaneously teach students about how to navigate the uses of technology while they learn about the assigned topics.
